HP Envy Printer Review
For a while now, people have been asking us for a proper HP Envy printer review. We always pride ourselves with giving our readers honest and unbiased information and this is what has gone into this review. Our local printer shop allowed us to have a go at using the HP Envy 110 and 114 and we made sure to push them to their limits. Below you can find what we regard as pro's, con's and we conclude this HP Envy printer review by summing it all up.
Pro's
- Extremely easy set-up - with no cables or wires other than the power cord it was as easy as 1-2-3 getting the HP Envy connected to our home network.
- Sleek design – this little all-in-one printer will fit into nearly any shelf or corner and with a polished finish it does not have to be hidden away.
- Does everything – it allows you to print, copy, scan, eFax and browse the Web.
- eFax – this means that you can send a fax to literally anyone else with a fax, without needing an expensive phone line to do so.
- Silent operation – when the HP Envy is working you can barely hear it.
- Works on almost all devices – laptop, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry or any other mobile device that can connect to a wireless network or has Bluetooth, you name it, the HP Envy can print it. As long as they are operating on the same wireless network or are connected via Bluetooth, after they are set up, you can print from anywhere in your house.
- 3.45 inch touch-screen color display – an easy to understand touch-screen which allows you to easily navigate through the HP Envy's features.
- Two sided printing – the automatic two-sided printing feature and the potential of saving your some serious money in the long run.
- Decent price – for what you are getting, prices around the $200 mark makes these all-in-one printers very affordable.
Con's
- Drop outs – as with almost all wireless printers, there is a tendency for it to lose the connection with the wireless network. We did not experience this during our testing, however a few people have mentioned this issue in their reviews. It should be noted though that this might be an issue with the owners actual modem router and does not necessarily have anything to do with the printer.
- Only multi-color cartridges – the HP Envy only takes multi-color cartridges and does not support individual color. What this means for the user is that print a lot using one particular color, it may run out quickly and they need a new cartridge to print more, even if they have many other colors left. This does obviously not apply for black as it has its own cartridge.
- No back up tray – due to the fact that this printer is tiny it does not have room for a back-up tray. What this means is that if you are printing very large documents, you will have to refill the paper every 50 or so pages.
- No photo paper tray – again, the limitation of its size means that the HP Envy does not have a separate tray for photo paper. In other words, if you are printing photos you will need to replace normal paper with photo paper.
Conclusion
To sum up this HP Envy printer review we have to admit that we are quite impressed. This is truly the future of printing. We are particularly impressed by the number of features HP has managed to stuff into this tiny machine. Yes, it does have a few limitations, but nothing you can't live without. This printer would be absolutely perfect for any home, home office or small business.
